Health Services

Nurse Michelle CrossSimpson College Health Services provide professional, confidential service and support to promote optimum health by assisting with health care needs and providing educational programs and guidance in health decisions. Limited over the counter health aids are available in the Health Services office. Health Services also offers printed materials on various health topics.

When needed the Health Services staff acts as a liaison between students and the health care providers in the community. Referrals are made by the College Nurse or, when she is not available, by the Student Development Office Staff.

Insurance

If you are not covered by your family's insurance plan, the college does offer an Accident and Sickness plan. the plan may be accessed at the Human Resources office extension 1511. Athletes are required to subscribe to a plan including major medical coverage.

Emergencies

If an emergency occurs during day time hours, contact the Health Services extension 1604 or the Office of Student Development extension 1592.

Should you require medical assistance on the weekend or after Health Services hours, contact your R.A. or Hall Director, and they will assist you. The Health Services staff should be notified of illness, injury or hospitalization occurring after office hours.

Service Referrals

If possible, all physician referrals should be made through the campus nurse; however, upon visiting the nurse, it is the student's responsibility to schedule his/her own appointments at the local clinics. Medical expenses incurred are the student's responsibility.
