To all the women of Simpson College:

Whether you are an incoming or returning Simpson College student, we would like to congratulate you on being a student at one of the finest colleges in the midwest.  Furthermore, we would like to offer you the opportunity to explore one of the finest Greek systems in the midwest.  The Simpson College Greek community prides itself on its high scholarship, dedication to community service, and enduring bonds of brotherhood and sisterhood.

If you are unsure about how to form lasting friendships or get involved on campus, the Simpson College Greek community may hold the answers.  The sororities on Simpson’s campus provide a link into leadership development and a network of sisters larger than you could ever imagine.   The experience provided by being a member of the Greek community is different than any other organization on campus.

We strongly encourage any woman, whether you are an incoming freshman, transfer student or upperclassman, to participate in fall recruitment starting September 14th.  You may find that the Simpson College Greek community is the door to an amazing college experience or to what you have felt lacking in your college experience so far.

Best Regards,

Maren Landers and Christina Woldt

Panhellenic Council

Vice Presidents of Recruitment

Sorority recruitment is one of the best ways to meet a lot of great women, make friends, and have the opportunity to join one of our four amazing sororities.  We are sure you will have a great time!

Panhellenic Formal Recruitment Schedule

Round One (Open House) - September 14, 2008

This first night of formal recruitment allows potential members to visit each sorority chapter, meet a lot of sorority women, and learn more information about each organization.  What to wear: Panhellenic will provide you with a cute tee shirt.  Pair it with jeans, khakis, jean skirts, etc.

Round Two (Philanthropy Night) - September 15, 2008

On the second night of recruitment, potential members visit up to three sorority chapters, depending on a mutual selection process.  This night focuses on a deeper look at the sororities, including the opportunity to participate in each sorority's philanthropy project.  What to wear: This night is a little dressier than the first.  Black pants, summer casual dresses, other business casual options are good.

Round Three (Preference Night) - September 17, 2008

This last night of recruitment is the most serious and often the most memorable.  Potential members will visit up to two chapters, depending on a mutual selection process.  The sororities will show potential members even more about their sisterhood bonds.  What to wear: This is the dressiest night of recruitment.  A lot of women wear cocktail dresses or a dressy pants outfit.

Bid Night - September 17, 2008

A few hours after Preference Night ends, potential members will receive bids from a sorority.  This is a fun night where the sorority welcomes you into the chapter with games and other activities.

Don't worry - you will not be going through recruitment alone.  You will have a Rho Gamma (Recruitment Guide) leading you through the process.  She will be an unbiased source of information and will help you with ANY questions you have about sororities and recruitment.

If you have any questions about formal sorority recruitment please contact one of the Panhellenic Vice Presidents of Recruitment, Maren Landers, maren.landers@simpson.edu or Christina Woldt, christina.woldt@simpson.edu
