MOVE IN DAY
Move-In Day is the start of your Simpson Experience. Amid the frenzy of moving into your housing assignment, taking in the initial orientation activities, and meeting new friends, take a deep breath and enjoy the fact that you are now a college student. If you have any questions, there is lots of help – ask your Community Advisor or your Destination Leader – just to name a few. You are off to a great start!

Residence Hall and Orientation Check In
Students living on campus check in at their assigned residence hall and receive their orientation packet. You will receive lots of help moving in from our Greek Life students and can use that extra time to get acquainted with your roommate and other new students in your hall. Make sure to look over all the contents of your orientation packet thoroughly. It contains your mailbox combo, e-mail information, and orientation information.

After a long day of moving, it’s time for parents to take a break, relax and get to meet other parents as they explore the challenges, opportunities and joys of being a parent of a college student. The staff of the Counseling and Career Services Office will facilitate a parents’ panel and a college student panel as they help parents ask and answer all their questions.

Welcome Service for new students and families Campus Quadrangle
Join representatives from all areas of Simpson College on the Campus Quadrangle as we officially welcome you to our college community. The service culminates as all first-year students pass through the College Gates (a gift from the class of 1912) and start their Simpson Experience.

It’s time to go! With a few last words of advice, students head off to their first orientation event and parents head home – both embarking on a new journey.

After bidding your parents farewell, it’s time to gather around your Community Advisor on your residence hall floor and get to know your next door neighbor. (Commuter students will be assigned a residence hall floor group so they can also have some fellow travelers for the rest of the evening)

The first-year service project is an opportunity to recognize the many new communities to which you belong: the friends you make while doing a worthwhile project, your LAS and the Simpson community which serves Indianola and metropolitan Des Moines in many ways. Do not wait a single moment to improve your new communities! The service you provide for these communities today may require you to do such activities as painting and yard work so dress appropriately.

Choir is open to any Simpson student who would like to participate. You do not need to bring any formal audition material. New music majors in voice and non-majors with activity or participation awards in music must audition. The choir performs works, both sacred and secular, from the Renaissance to the 20th Century.
