Simpson Course Evaluations
The class mean and term mean for student course evaluations are provided to faculty each semester. In addition, students’ written comments can be reviewed. Contact Becky Beaman in the dean’s office to review your file.

Early Course Evaluation
After two or three weeks, ask students to provide written feedback about how the course is going. This evaluation allows you to make adjustments early or to make clarifications. An early course evaluation can prevent small issues from growing. I have attached an early course evaluation that I have used for years. This evaluation was required at my previous institution. Sal includes questions about the students’ progress. As a student, what are you doing that is helping you to be successful? As a student, what do you need to change to be successful?

Survey Monkey
Create your own evaluation questions at any point in the semester. Send your questions.   Faculty Development will design a Survey Monkey questionnaire and send you the e-mail link to send on to your students.   Faculty Development will compile the results and send them to you.  Contact Shelly Priebe or Sal Meyers for sample surveys to use.

Class Discussion Lead by a Colleague
Ask another professor, from your department or across campus, to lead a class discussion about your course while you are out of the room. Students may be more open and honest if you are not in the room. You might provide the professor with the type of information that interests you most. Sal Meyers or Shelly Priebe can connect you with willing professors.

End of Course Feedback
I use the last class session, in part, to gather additional feedback (oral and written) about the course. I give students an opportunity to tell me what they have learned, how they feel about the textbook and classroom activities, as well as assignments, projects and exams. I find the feedback informative.
