Communicating about Missing Multiple Classes

Prepare to, and explain how you will, communicate with students if they (or you) cannot attend multiple class sessions due to illness

  • Let your students know the primary communications method you will use to contact them, and they should use to contact you, it you cannot meet in class. If a flu outbreak occurs, expect some students to be confused about how to communicate with you, and be flexible about guiding students toward course materials and communication tools.
  • If you plan to use Email as your first line of communication, select a subject phrase and tell your students to look for this phrase in their inbox (and to use it when they email you), such as "HST 122 – CLASS UPDATES."
