Workshops and Events

Faculty Workshops During Iowa Private College Week: These 2-hour workshops are designed to provide instructors with ideas that are likely to be reflected in a syllabus.

Faculty Development Day: Three pairs of concurrent sessions are offered the day before the Fall Faculty Workshop.

GIFT Sessions: GIFT stands for Great Ideas For Teaching. Each of these 20 minute sessions provides one concrete idea you can easily implement in your own classes.

Faculty Hour: Each hour-long session will be offered twice: once in the late afternoon and once in the evening.

Faculty Development Services for Individuals: Personalized assistance is a particularly effective way of supporting and sustaining teaching growth. You can come for a one-time individual consultation or a series of meetings with a mentor.

Grant Opportunities: Learn about (a) the in-house grant opportunities offered at Simpson to support teaching and scholarship, (b) state and nationwide grant opportunities, and (c) working with Simpson’s grant writer.

Faculty Awards: Simpson awards faculty in four areas each year: outstanding junior faculty, distinguished teaching, distinguished research, and campus leadership.

New Faculty Resources: Although these resources were designed for new faculty, they contain lots of helpful information for all faculty.
