All students successfully completing the Simpson College education program will:
Standard 1: Develop a personal vision for education in a democratic society informed by a critical examination of the historical, philosophical, and sociological foundations of education.
Standard 2: Demonstrate knowledge of how all students learn and develop (to include intellectual, career, social and personal development).
Standard 3: Understand and apply the central concepts, tools of inquiry, and structures of the subject matter s/he teaches.
Standard 4: Understand and use formative and summative assessment strategies to continuously evaluate the teaching and learning process.
Standard 5: Create and manage a learning environment that promotes intellectual, social, and emotional development.
Standard 6: Plan research-based instruction that supports students’ intellectual, social, and emotional development and learning.
Standard 7: Organize, facilitate, and manage planned learning events using teaching methods and techniques that promote students’ intellectual, social, emotional development and learning.
Standard 8: Demonstrate effective communication skills including written, verbal, nonverbal, and media/technology communication.
Standard 9: Care about and respect students as unique human beings and
foster positive relationships with students, colleagues, families, and other stakeholders to support students.
Standard 10: Understand what it means to act in a purposeful, ethical, humane, and professional manner and are confident in their ability to positively impact the life of every student.
