The licensure and endorsement process can be complicated. Thus, one of the student teaching seminars address this issue in some detail. Student teachers are placed in student teaching situations that are appropriate to the endorsement(s) they are seeking. This policy often results in multiple placements involving more than one mentoring teacher. The student teacher must have completed all of the content area coursework required for this endorsement prior to student teaching, except in the most exceptional situations, and then only with the guarantee that the student will complete this coursework before or immediately after graduation from Simpson College. Simpson offers endorsements in almost all subject areas recognized by the Iowa Department of Education. The list of endorsements for which a Simpson College graduate is potentially eligible can be found in the Simpson College website under teacher education. Once student teachers have successfully completed student teaching and has graduated, they may apply for the endorsements for which they are qualified as part of their application for licensure. For a copy of the Iowa Department of Educational Examiners Application for Licensure you may access the Iowa Dept. of Education web page.
