In order to receive the MA-CJ degree from Simpson College, a student must complete all application procedures and be officially accepted by the college. What is required for admission?
Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution with a major in criminal justice, sociology, psychology, social work, political science, or economics. For other majors, remedial coursework may be required to satisfy pre-requisites. We require a 3.0 GPA in major and overall. If your GPA is below 3.0, the GRE is required.

Complete the graduate application for admission.
- Submit official transcripts from the college or university where you completed your baccalaureate degree; Forms for ordering transcripts are available. For help with contacting colleges, see how to order your transcripts.
- Provide 2 letters of recommendation from current and/or past supervisors
- Meet with MA-CJ academic advisor to review initial transcript analysis
- Complete an essay on your interest in pursuing MA-CJ degree (to be completed in the advisor's office)
- Complete FAFSA if applicable
When a student is accepted by the MA-CJ admissions committee, he/she will be classified as a degree candidate upon payment of a one-time $75 matriculation fee and enrollment in the upcoming session.
Acceptance as a degree candidate confirms a student's requirements for graduation as described in the catalog in effect when admitted. Official admission to the college is needed for most state and federal financial aid.
