The primary goal of the Computer Information Systems Major is to prepare students to analyze, design, implement and maintain information systems. A secondary goal of the program is to provide students with the necessary skills to support end-user computing in a business environment.
Students completing this program will be able to function competently at an entry level information systems position as well as enter an advanced course of study in the information systems field. Since information systems are an integral part of organizations and business systems, introductory courses in the disciplines of accounting, management and economics are included in this course of study. Since information systems professionals must be able to use and communicate in quantitative terms, the major also requires supporting courses in mathematics and statistics.
