CERTIFICATES OF SPECIALIZATION
A Certificate of Specialization is offered in database systems, web development, and object-oriented programming. Simpson's Certificates of Specialization Programs are designed for working adults who wish to acquire a skill specialization.  These Certificates of Specialization allow those individuals to continue their education for the purpose of acquiring specific skills and knowledge that may not have been available during their regular college curriculum or were outside their areas of study.

POST BACCALAUREATE CERTIFICATES
Simpson's Post Baccalaureate Certificate Programs in Accounting, Computer Science, Management, and Secondary Education are designed for those individuals who have earned a baccalaureate degree and wish to continue their education for the purpose of acquiring specific skills and knowledge.

Entrance Requirements for Post Baccalaureate Certificates
The Post Baccalaureate Certificate Programs in Accounting, Computer Science, Management and Secondary Education have been designed primarily for individuals who have a bachelor's degree in another field. No previous courses or entrance examinations are required. Please see the Education page for requirements for that program. Admission to the program will require the following:

  • Meet with an Academic Advisor in the Division of Adult Learning to prepare a planned sequence of courses.
  • If seeking financial aid, complete an application to Simpson College. Application forms may be obtained from either office of the Division of Adult Learning. Submit official transcripts of all previous academic work and submit the $50 matriculation fee upon acceptance into the program.
  • If not seeking financial aid, submit official transcripts of all prior college credit.
  • Complete the certificate application in the semester prior to completion of the final course.

Program Requirements for Post Baccalaureate Certificates
Candidates must enroll in all courses on a regular grade basis.  Candidates may not take more than four courses at other educational institutions.  Due to duplication of coursework, individuals cannot register for both a Post Baccalaureate Certificate in Accounting and a Post Baccalaureate Certificate in Management.  A cumulative grade point average of (2.50) must be obtained in the program with at least a C (2.00) grade earned in each class. All course requirements are expected to be completed in a four-year time frame.  Written permission from the chairperson of the department offering the certificate program is required to modify course requirements.  Each candidate who completes these requirements will receive a certificate which, in addition to the transcript, will serve as official documentation of the continuing education experience.
