Communication is a skill basic to all human activity. Communication Studies at Simpson College focuses on understanding and improving human communication. To this end, faculty provide an environment that cultivates lifelong teaching and learning of expressive and receptive abilities.

Students acquire a broad-based knowledge of theories and competencies through three majors of study: rhetoric and speech communication, journalism and mass communication and corporate communication.

Being close to Des Moines, the largest multi-media center in the state of Iowa, is a huge advantage for Simpson's communication-studies majors. Graduates are well prepared for careers in public relations, advertising, broadcasting, journalism, marketing, graduate school or teaching.
