Chad is new to Simpson College, joining the faculty in the fall of 2005 after completing his Master's Degree in Mass Communications at St. Cloud State in Minnesota. Chad got his undergraduate degree in Organizational Communication from Winona State in the fall of 1997.

For most of the last 15 years, the majority of Chad's work experience was in the field of radio broadcasting. Starting in 1990 at a small station in St. Peter, Minnesota and then moving to such locals as Winona, Minneapolis, Washington, Iowa and Mankato, Chad spent time working in news, sports, promotions, sales, operations and spent two years as a morning show co-host on the top-rated morning show in the Mankato area.

Chad's work as a news director has been rewarding. In 2003 and 2004 Chad won two Minnesota Associated Press Broadcasters awards and a Society of Professional Journalists Mark of Excellence award. He has done news reports from the sites of blood drives, tornado damaged houses and one tough day, from in front of a high school in Cold Spring, MN after a school shooting.

Chad's interest now is passing along his experience to students that are interested in pursuing journalism as a career. His interests areĀ the use of ethical journalism after tragic events as well as lobbying legislators to pass laws giving journalists the right to protect the names of their sources.
