Independent student projects, labs, internships, and seminar classes are cornerstones in the chemistry and physics program at Simpson College. Simpson’s hands-on approach to teaching chemistry and physics transforms students who study science into scientists. With the excellent preparation students receive at Simpson, nearly half of Simpson’s chemistry and physics graduates attend medical school or receive advanced degrees in related fields. Simpson is also one of the few colleges and universities in the nation where you can study forensic science.
Simpson also provides students with high-quality learning facilities. The college has received more than $400,000 in grants in the last five years to purchase state-of-the-art lab instrumentation for chemistry and biochemistry. The college has advanced equipment available to students within its 11 laboratories, including an advanced laser lab and an electronics and modern physics lab.
“We take students from being students of science to scientists who do science. There are many fields to choose from – our faculty work on helping students discover their full potential in the great world of science.”
Werner Kolln, PhD, Professor of Chemistry and Physics
