George Washington Carver Legacy Series Events

The George Washington Carver Lecture and Medal Presentation are a part of the two-day George Washington Carver Legacy Events. The program pays tribute to Carver’s legacy at Simpson and the college’s commitment to diversity throughout its history.

Other events include:

Jan. 17 – Simpson Urban Studies Institute Luncheon. Community leaders will meet with Wright, Iowa State Representative Wayne Ford and Simpson College Professor of Sociology and Criminal Justice Fred Jones to discuss issues affecting urban populations. Noon at Holiday Inn Downtown. By invitation only.

Jan. 18 – Workshop, featuring Wright. The workshop – titled “How Would Jesus Vote?” – will focus its discussions around which political issues are most directly related to Jesus’ teachings. 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in Camp Lounge in the Brenton Student Center on Simpson’s campus. Reservations are required and can be made by e-mailing ann.shepherd@simpson.edu with the name of each participant.
