Duties include designing eye-catching materials, assisting with photography archives, planing and executing initiatives that fit the organization's goals and marketing plan, and designing proof-of-performance books to give to sponsors. Qualified applicants should be proficient with Adobe Creative Suite and other design programs, having exceptional writing skills, and ability to work under a deadline. Video-Production Intern: The Des Moines Menace, Iowa's premier soccer team, is searching for a summer intern who will handle the electronic-media functions for the team. Duties include shooting and editing high-quality footage for all games, uploading and burning game DVDs on a weekly basis, producing video spots to promote all Menace programs, managing team's YouTube site, and producing the seasons highlight video. Qualified applicants should be proficient in video-editing software, comfortable using a Canon GL2 video camera, ability to effectively develop fun, creative YouTube marketing campaign, and experience videotaping sports. Communications Intern: Iowa State Blue Ribbon Foundation has three openings, one for spring and two for summer, for candidates that will assist the Foundation staff in the preparation of various communication materials including newsletters, press releases, correspondences, publication design, and website maintenance. Applicants will also have the opportunity to coordinate special events, publicity efforts, the Iowan of the Day program, and volunteers for the 2010 Iowa State Fair. Applicants should have outstanding spelling, grammar, and writing skills, proficiency in typing and computer skills, coursework in public relations, marketing communications, and/or design. Intern must be available 8-12 hours per week during the spring semester and/or 40 hours per week early-May through late August. Competitive compensation is provided. Rocky Mountain Biological Laboratory: The Rocky Mountain Biological Laboratory in Gothic, Colorado has several undergraduate opportunities in field research. The first is a 10-week session from June 7-August 15 and is an advanced undergraduate research/REU. This program targets rising seniors or those who have graduated. Students conduct independent research under the supervision of RMBL scientists. Students accepted through the program received a $4,500 stipend, free room, board and travel. The application deadline is February 15, 2009. The second is a 8-week session from June 14-August 8 and is a structured undergraduate research and course. Students will conduct independent research under the supervision of RMBL scientists (75% time) while taking a course (25% time). The program targets rising sophomores and juniors as well as students who wish to receive training in a particular area. Students received $3,500 for tuition, room, and board. Aprovecho Internships: Starting every March, June, and September, small groups of nine to fourteen interns joining the Aprovecho's ten staff members for an intensive, ten-week learning experience.  Studies focus primarily on Organic Gardening, Sustainable Forestry, and Alternative/Appropriate Technologies, with a variety of other classes on sustainable living and indigenous skills.
