Internships are unpaid but can be completed for college credit. Ideally the Intern would be available for the entire school year, but completing only one semester is acceptable. Graphic Design Intern
Hours Required: Approximately 20-30 hours/week
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
The Graphic Design intern will work closely with our Marketing Coordinator/ Designer to discuss themes and layouts of the paper. They will assist in making copy and graphic adjustments for print. They will work on a variety of design projects including, advertisements, marketing materials for events and newsletter layouts. They will assist in advertising campaigns for events at the Iowa Events Center. Atend weekly meeting with the designer and marketing team. Assist in brainstorming concepts and research for upcoming projects. Assist in designing ads for various industry publications. Assist in organizing photo albums and download photos onto disk from professional photographer’s websites.
Design PowerPoint layout templates for various projects. Design themes for events on LED Ribbon panel boards
Qualifications and Requirements:
• College students with Junior or Senior status 20-30 hours per week during normal business hours.• Excellent eye for design, color, layout and usability is required.•Graphic Design Software experience is required (e.g. Photoshop, Illustrator, Powerpoint, InDesign, AfterEffects)• Strong customer service skills and able to work in a team environment• Examples of previous work, whether online or included in resume are appreciated. • Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills• Detail oriented, self-motivated and able to work under minimal supervision• A winning, do-what-it-takes attitude and a desire to learn• Able to work in a fast paced environment

Contract Management:
This intern’s primary duties will be to help the staff ensure all ARRA funds are spent appropriately by maintaining contract management data for task tracking, program tracking, project management, federal funding reporting and other program needs. This intern will collect and enter contract status data from more than nearly 200 sub-awardees and enter the data; assist staff reviewing monthly reports and quarterly reports; assist staff analyzing contract status data and identify sub-awardees that are late for reports and/or are falling behind contracted work schedule; assist staff contacting non-performing sub-awardees to get reports and data; populate and maintain databases and spreadsheets to ensure that information is useable, accurate and verifiable; and ensure all project files are complete and accurate. This intern will also assist staff who primarily works on Power Fund. In addition, this intern will be tasked to perform basic information or literature search for program development purposes.
Engineering:
This intern will collect and enter energy consumption and cost data from state facilities and other public entities to help with energy benchmarking project; assist staff engineers analyzing utility data and identify energy efficiency potentials; assist staff engineers in energy savings verifications and identify causes for unrealized savings; populate and maintain databases and spreadsheets to ensure that information is useable, accurate and verifiable. In addition, this intern will assist staff who primarily works on ARRA funds and Power Fund.
Communication:
This position is responsible for helping with the marketing and outreach staffing necessary to help Iowans become energy independent. This position will be focused on providing graphic arts and design services for program outreach and marketing materials, but will also be responsible for making web updates and writing web content on a daily basis.
Legislative & Marketing:
This position is necessary to assist staff with the administration of the appliance rebate program to retrieve information from the appliance rebate on-line database; answer questions from customers on the status of their rebate, which appliances are eligible for rebates, and hot to apply for a rebate; assist in training of retailers, manufacturers and distributors; assist with the Building Energy Smart Program by preparing materials for monthly marketing meetings; assisting with quarterly advisory board meetings by making meeting arrangements, preparing the meeting materials, completing meeting notes and tracking progress; gathering information for and writing case studies, marketing materials and web features; inputting information in program databases, developing and retrieving pre-established reports; developing tracking systems for legislative initiatives and inputting information in the database; developing and writing an internal legislative newsletter for staff.

Legal Interns: The Legal Department has two types of internships available.
