Public Relations Intern: Metro Waste Authority is looking for someone who wants experience in special events coordination, copy writing, community relations, advertising, project management, planning, research, web site maintenance, graphic design, media relations, and developing proposals. Applicants should be a junior or senior working toward a four-year degree in communications, marketing, or public relations, or a recent college grad in one of these areas. Applicants should be familiar with Microsoft Office programs and have experience with public relations in a professional setting. A valid drivers license and car insurance is required to travel between MWA facilities. Qualified candidates must be willing to work a min. of 20 hours a week with a max. of 40 per week, Jan. through May 2010 between 8am-4:30pm. Minimum 4-hr. time blocks are required. Communications Intern: Iowa State Blue Ribbon Foundation has three openings, one for spring and two for summer, for candidates that will assist the Foundation staff in the preparation of various communication materials including newsletters, press releases, correspondences, publication design, and website maintenance. Applicants will also have the opportunity to coordinate special events, publicity efforts, the Iowan of the Day program, and volunteers for the 2010 Iowa State Fair. Sales Internship: Marsh is looking for an intern to help with the sales support activities of the Marsh Global Consumer New Business Development Team by providing research assistance to develop a monthly newsletter, writing case studies, and formatting documents and production activities. Paid Journalism and Public Policy Internships: The Institute for Humane Studies at George Mason University in Virginia has helped undergraduate and graduate students interested in individual liberty pursue their career goals. Through their internships programs, students can intern at public policy think tanks, major media outlets and production firms, and improve their career and interviewing skills at their workshops. New York Fashion Experience: Students who want to experience the inner workings of the fashion industry can apply to the Fashion Program at Marist College. Students of all majors attending a 2-4 year college or university are encouraged to apply. A variety of areas offer internships including, buying, design, human resources, marketing, merchandising, public relations, sales, visual merchandising, product development, production, etc. NYFE is a full-time semester long program offered during the Fall & Spring semesters. Legal Interns: The Legal Department has two types of internships available. These internships provide students an excellent opportunity to observe the workings of state government from the center of the executive branch. One intern will work primarily with the Assistant to the General Counsel in matters such as the review of clemency files and responding correspondence. Students applying should be first year law students or an undergrad with an interest in attending law school. The second intern will work with the General Counsel and Associate General Counsel. They will be assigned to legal research and writing projects in a variety of areas of law including administrative rules, ethics and open meetings/pubic record. Special projects may also be assigned. The intern will be asked to attend various public hearings and/or public meetings and provide a written or verbal summary of the proceedings. Students applying should be enrolled in law school and possess strong legal research and writing skills and an ability to produce a high-quality work product in a short amount of time. Neighborhood Ministry and Education Intern: College Avenue Christian Church in Des Moines is looking to place an unpaid intern to assist in building their neighborhood ministry and education program. The position is brand new and, therefore, very flexible. Applicants should be interested in elementary education and/or religion. The hope is to provide an after school program one night a week on Wednesdays, running immediately after school until 5:30pm. The intern would help with creating/selecting a curriculum and developing marketing as well as run the weekly program. Intern needs to pass a basic background check. To apply: Contact Rev. Camp Adventure Youth Services Intern: If you like to serve children and youth overseas, internships are available working with Primary Child Development Centers on U.S. Military Bases in Germany, Italy, England, Belgium, Hawaii, and Key West.  Interns will receive 12 hours of credit from the UNI at a reduced rate. Travel expenses and housing are paid. Living stipend of $2600 for 17 weeks. Must have completed freshman year of college with a GPA of 2.5 or greater and experience working with children. Animal Keeper Internship: Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge in Eureka Springs, AR is looking for an animal keeper who will be responsible for the daily care of Tigers, Lions, Cougars, Black Bears, Black Leopard, etc. Duties include husbandry, enrichment, record keeping of animal behavior, educational public tours, and customer service. Daily care includes cleaning, feeding, medicating, and assisting with maintenance, upkeep and habitat construction. A Bachelor's degree in an animal related discipline is preferred.
