Marilyn K. Mueller graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Wisconsin- Platteville.  Her Doctorate of Jurisprudence and Master's of Business Administration degrees are from Drake University.  Professor Mueller was a law clerk for two years during law school at Bradshaw, Fowler, Proctor & Fairgrave law firm in Des Moines, Iowa, in the corporate, property and tax area of the firm.  She passed the Iowa bar exam and is licensed to practice law in Iowa.  She spent a year as a graduate judicial law clerk to Chief Judge Leo Oxberger, Iowa Court of Appeals, and a year as a graduate judicial law clerk to Justice James Carter, Iowa Supreme Court.  She also worked at the Boone County Legal Aid Office in Boone Iowa.

Mueller served as Parliamentarian in the Iowa Senate, and has worked in the department of public information at the University of Wisconsin - Platteville.  She was "Of Counsel" to the Butler law firm in Des Moines, but now does pro bono immigration legal work.

Mueller serves as advisor to Pre-Law Society and Amnesty International.  She represents the college by membership in Financial Executives International – Iowa Chapter and she is the Academic Relations Chair on the FEI Board of Directors.  She has written and presented papers on negotiation, the Family and Medical Leave Act and employee drug testing at various national and regional conferences.  Mueller is a member of the board of directors of the Catholic Peace Ministry.
