David Richmond
David Richmond, Associate Professor of Art at Simpson College, received a bachelor of fine arts in 1981, a master of arts in 1986, and a master of fine arts in 1987 from the University of Iowa. His academic career has included concentrations in graphic design, environmental design, industrial design, and advanced photography. Richmond has worked as a medical photographer, graphic designer and advertising executive.
His teaching experiences include serving as a teaching assistant and visiting instructor in the University of Iowa College of Iowa. Following several years in private industry in Wisconsin, Mr. Richmond joined the faculty at Dickinson State University in Dickinson, North Dakota as an associate professor of art. There, he developed the university’s graphic design program and taught art and photography classes. Prior to rekindling his academic career,
David Richmond has most recently led a student group to China for a photographic tour of that country. He has also chaired a group of people responsible for the successful acquisition of a, National Endowment for the Arts, grant for Simpson College. Professor Richmond is a prolific artist. His work has been shown in group and solo shows extensively in the Midwest region.
