The Art Department periodically offers field trips to various centers of the visual arts.  Extended stay trips are taken to significant cultural centers in surrounding states. Previous trips have included the Art Institute in Chicago, the Nelson-Atkins Museum in Kansas City and the Walker Museum of Art in Minneapolis.   The Art Department also regularly takes classes to visit the Des Moines Art Center as well as other local fine artist studios and advertising agencies dealing with commercial graphic design.
