Join us as we celebrate the on-going tradition of athletic excellence at Simpson College by honoring the newest members of the Simpson College Athletic Hall of Fame, Double S and Dick Buxton Award recipients. The 1958 baseball team will also be recognized for the 50th anniversary of it's 3rd place national finish.
This year Mitch Anderson '82, Brad Jorgensen '98, Jim Valley '87, Carrie Schroeder Steffen '95 and Damon Youmans '93 will be inducted into the Hall of Fame. Richard Shackelford '38 and Richard Butler '48 will be inducted into the Veteran's Hall of Fame.
John Sirianni and Jim Williams will be inducted into the Coaches Hall of Fame. L.G. Sheldon will be honored with the Dick Buxton Award and and Eldon Huston '54 and Chad Buchanan '95 will receive the Double S Award.
Members of the Hall of Fame, former athletes, past award recipients, alumni, parents and friends are all encouraged to attend this event. Advance reservations are required.11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. - Tailgate Under the Tent - In the tent just north of McNeill Hall. Kick your Simpson spirit into high gear at the Tailgate Under the Tent. There will be plenty of food, fun and fans at the tailgate. Join us for a pre-game meal at this family-friendly event.
1 p.m. - Simpson vs. Wartburg - Bill Buxton Stadium
The Simpson/Central rivalry continues as the Storm take on the Knights
at 1 p.m. Be sure to wear your red and gold as there is bound to be some orange around. We ask our award winners and members of the 1958 baseball to be present at half-time for recognition. Tickets may be purchased at the gate.4 p.m. Post-Game Party and Class Reunions - Hopper Gymnasium
The Post-Game Party for all alumni, parents, and friends begins immediately following the game in Hopper Gym. Milestone class reunions for the classes of 1988, 1993, 1999 and 2003 will be held during the party but all are welcome to join the fun. We also host a reunion for the 1958 baseball team as they celebrate the 50th anniversary of winning third in the nation.There will be a full hors d'oeuvre buffet available with complimentary soft drinks and a cash bar. Bring your friends and help make this newer tradition a huge success.
