Nominations for Alumni Achievement Awards and Alumni Board of Directors

There are many ways to be involved in the life of the college as an alumnus/a. If you are interested in serving on the Alumni Association Board of Directors, on a reunion committee, or would like to volunteer in any other capacity please call Leslie Held, Director of Alumni Relations at 515-961-1547 or 800-610-6369. You may nominate yourself or someone else for an alumni award or alumni board position online.

The following alumni awards are presented each June at Alumni Weekend:

Alumni Achievement Award – Outstanding career achievement, service to community and service to Simpson.

Alumni Loyalty Award – Outstanding service to Simpson College.

Recent Alumni Achievement Award – Outstanding career achievement and/or service to community. Class year not to exceed ten years from the year in which the award is given.

Recent Alumni Loyalty Award – Outstanding service to Simpson College. Class year not to exceed ten years from the year the award is given.

Humanitarian Service Award – Outstanding achievement, with emphasis on service to humanity on a broader scale than community service.

Defining alumni:

alumnus - A male graduate or former student of a school, college, or university.

alumna - A woman graduate or former student of a school, college, or university.

alumni - Plural form of alumnus and also includes alumnae.

alumnae - Plural form of alumna.

How does Simpson define who is an alum? Each college or university defines alumnus/a in a different way. At Simpson, an alumnus/a is anyone who has completed 32 credit hours at Simpson (or has a sophomore class status).
