Frequently Asked Questions - Campus Living
Can freshmen have cars?
Yes. Students must pay an annual fee to register their cars with the college. Everything they need is within walking distance, so cars aren't really necessary.
What about meals?
Simpson's food service is provided by Sodexho Campus Services, a company that is nationally known for the quality of its catering. Students choose from several meal plans and select the plan that works best for them. Most students eat their meals in Pfeiffer Hall and the Storm Street Grill, although some Greek organizations offer their own meal plans.
What kind of housing is available?
We understand how important the right housing is to a college student. That's why students get to choose among residence halls, theme houses, apartment-style housing and Greek housing. Theme house residents share a similar educational or co-curricular interest, such as religious life, performing arts, or management. Approximately 25 percent of our students join sororities or fraternities - which are found either on campus or within one block of campus.
Is Simpson College safe?
Simpson students enjoy the safety and friendliness of small town Indianola, a community where people care about each other. Our students benefit from security staff that is on duty twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, patrolling campus grounds, parking lots and housing units. Security staff also provide escorts for students and staff, monitor campus buildings, enforce parking regulations, and help all members of the campus community understand their responsibilities for security and safety at Simpson.
