Simpson offers guidance and academic support through programs provided by Hawley Academic Resource Center and the Office of Counseling and Career Services.  The goal of these services is to help all Simpson students achieve success in their classes and future careers. 

Hawley Academic Resource Center

Hawley Academic Resource Center provides students with individualized help to meet the requirements for competencies and courses.  The Center also provides guidance at any point of the writing process (including revising and editing of portfolios), gives assistance for any math or foreign language course, and assigns tutors for most classes.  Students also have the opportunity to learn more about academic strategies for test taking, note taking, college reading and time and stress management.  All tutoring services available at Hawley are free to Simpson students. 

Office of Counseling and Career Services

Simpson's office of counseling and career services provides guidance in career exploration and assists students with all aspects of the job and graduate school search process.  The office provides a comprehensive career guidance program that enables students to explore career options and offers credential and resume consultation throughout the year.  Individual appointments can be made with a counselor to discuss a variety of career-related issues including choosing a major, exploring career options, learning about job search techniques, and receiving resume and cover letter critiques.  Each year, Simpson provides opportunities for on-campus job and graduate school interviews.  The career services office also collects resumes from interested students and sends them to selected companies for pre-interview screening.   In addition, Simpson is a member of the Iowa Private College Career Consortium (IPCCC). Through the IPCCC, employers have access to college seniors from across the state and interviews are arranged through the consortium.
