Forensic Scientists are just that - scientists. That's why Simpson's forensic science major is rooted in biochemistry. Everyone can imagine the excitement of a crime scene investigation and collecting evidence, but a deeper look into the field of forensic science reveals even more: forensic chemistry and toxicology, DNA and fingerprint analysis, arson investigation, criminology, forensic odontology and forensic psychiatry. Students engage in hands-on experience in campus laboratory environments and gain real-world experience while working beside expert forensic scientists through professional internship programs.
- The George Washington Carver Science Center features biotechnology facilities for building and using recombinant DNA, imaging systems for developmental biology and a human cadaver lab.
- Bordered by Iowa's capital city, Des Moines (12 miles north), Simpson's forensic scientists are privy to the premiere internships in the state.

"Between the recent improvements in forensic analysis technology
and the popularity of CSI-type television shows, there has definitely
been an increase in interest in the field. The core science curriculum
integrated with criminal justice courses will make Simpson graduates
great candidates for DNA and Drug Analysis positions."
