Accounting

Business is the largest program at Simpson, led by an experienced faculty who excel in their discipline. Degrees are offered in accounting, economics, international management, management and marketing. The classroom challenges students to develop and demonstrate a mastery of skills including logical, consistent, critical and creative thinking; effective communication; and responsible and confident leadership. Several organizations are designed to enrich the student’s education: Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE), Phi Beta Lambda business club, on-site business seminars and various internship opportunities.

  • Accounting students may apply to take the Certified Public Accounting (CPA) exam. In Iowa students who pass the exam must have accumulated a total of 150 semester hours of college credit before they will be awarded a CPA certificate.  Students are able to complete 150 hours in four years at Simpson.
  • Simpson students first-time CPA pass rate is three times higher than the national average.
