Cornerstone Code Definitions

CS Codes
You will notice in every term enrollment update screen the third column is marked at the top as "CS". That means Cornerstones. However, we also include other codes in that same column, and you may have noticed even more codes exist now, so here are the definitions of all of the codes you will see in that column:

1A, 1B, 2A, 2B, 3, 4A, 4B, 5, 6, 7, 8 = Cornerstone numbers

WCII = This course will provide a paper assignment that a student can then use for his/her Writing Competency 2 Portfolio. However, a course does NOT have to have this code in order for the student to be able to use a paper from it for WCII. (WCII papers cannot come from Eng 101 or 102, and must come from courses after the student has completed Writing Comp 1.)

OV = Students are permitted to take up to five courses regardless of the number of credits without being charged an overload. However, if a student takes six or more courses in a term (Mod 1 and Fall are counted together, and Mod 2, Mod 3 and Spring are counted together) and thus over 16 credits the student will be charged an overload, unless the 6th course has an OV code which means "overload exempt".

HIST = This code means that the course will fulfill the "history" requirement all BA students must complete.

LIT = This code means that the course will fulfill the "literature" requirement all BA students must complete.

WS = This code indicates that the course is one needed to complete the Women Studies Minor.

SLR = This code means that the course will require a service-learning component.

SLO = This code means that the course will have a service-learning option students may either choose to do or not.
