Eligibility
Any full time, regularly appointed faculty person who completes a research
project, publication, or work of art deemed to be of high professional quality
by standards of peers within the appropriate discipline is eligible.
In consultation with the faculty personnel committee, the academic dean will appoint or designate a committee chaired by the dean to develop recommendations to the president by April 1 for that person to whom such an award should be given.
Works considered for such an award must have been completed within a five-year period for the first two awards (1986 and 1987) and within a three-year period thereafter, prior to the date of the award. No person receiving the award can receive it a second time within a five-year period.
Criteria for receiving the award would include:
1) a contribution to the discipline of the recipient;
2) favorable review by peers within and outside Simpson;
3) acknowledged (critique, certification, election, etc.)
major impact on the scholarship/knowledge/holdings of the discipline;4) acclaim to the professor and to the college.
Applications for this award are to be made no later than March 1 of each academic year to the office of the academic dean in accordance with procedures announced by that office.
