FINAL OPEN FACULTY MEETING WITH THE DEAN:

The last meeting of faculty to meet with Dean Griffith is scheduled as an open meeting for all on Tuesday, October 31 from 1-2 p.m. in Camp Lounge.  This caps a series of meetings the dean held for faculty in groups determined by their length of employment. If you have missed a meeting and would like to attend, please feel free to stop by tomorrow for this final open meeting.

LAST MINUTE OPENING FOR COLLABORATION CONFERENCE:

Because of a cancellation, there is an opening for one person who would like to attend the Collaboration Conference Friday, November 17 and Saturday, November 18 in Bloomington, MN.  Join five other colleagues going to this conference to learn about motivating students for better retention, learning, and achievement.  Please contact Becky Beaman, ext. 1720.

YOURS TRULY, JACK THE  RIPPER:

From October 30 to November 3, Donald and Molly Rumbelow from London, England will be on campus.  Donald, a thirty year police veteran in London, will present a forum on Tuesday, Oct. 31, in Lekberg at 7:00 pm titled "Yours Truly Jack the Ripper".  The Ripper case is the first modern profiling case and is the case that made us aware of what we now call serial killers. Donald is frequently on the Discovery Channel dealing with crime issues. He is the former president of the British Crime Writers association and has published numerous books on crime related topics including his last book published this fall.

Molly has a masters degree from the Royal College of Art in 18th and 19th century design.  She is a frequent lecturer on various historical topics in London.  Molly's forum presentation on Thursday, November 2 at 12:30 in Camp Lounge is titled “Charles Dickens' London.” She focuses on the transformation of London from a Carolinian city of coaching inns and chop houses to the largest city in the world during the time Dickens lived in the city and how these changes impacted his writing.

Donald and Molly will be making numerous presentations in classes on a wide range of topics during the week.

CHANGE IN DISBURSEMENT OF ADJUNCT/OL CONTRACTS:

In order to maintain consistency in disbursing contracts, Loretta Collins in DAL (x1552) will be issuing any adjunct or overload contracts on behalf of academic affairs, beginning immediately for spring semester.   This way, Loretta will also be able to maintain statistics for the various reports that are requested, and will keep adjunct records on file with transcripts and vitae.  Department Chairs will still work with Dean Griffith on the hiring approval for adjunct and overload contracts for the traditional program. Walter Pearson will continue to work with Department Chairs for DAL hiring.
