Welcome to the Learning Programs Working Group (LPWG) Website! The LPWG is committed to an open and transparent process to review and bring forward to the Simpson College community any proposals for changes in the general education program and/or the academic structure of the College.
The members of the LPWG are: Kedron Bardwell, John Bolen, Maria DiPalma, Amy Doling, Cyd Dyer, Lora Friedrich, Bill Friedricks, Steve Griffith, Mike Hadden, Jim Hayes, Stephanie Krauth, Sal Meyers, Justin Nostrala, John Pauley, Walter Pearson, Steve Shafer, Del Shepard, Lydia Sinapova, Nancy St. Clair, Murphy Waggoner, Sharon Wilkinson, and Patti Woodward Young.
At the first meeting the LPWG split into two subgroups to address the issues of general education and academic structure. Each group is meeting weekly. The notes from the meetings are posted below.
NOTE: It is important to remember that the meeting notes are simply a record of the meeting. Decisions made by the working groups should not be taken as recommendations for action. They represent the thinking of the group at the time and are likely to change with further discussion. It should also be noted that once the LPWG-Structure group has generated its recommendations, it will bring them to the LPWG-General Education group for additional discussion. Final recommendations will come from the LPWG.
The LPWG anticipates holding open town hall meetings to discuss any potential recommendations before they are sent to EPCC for action.
